This sommelier course is a great course for those who want to learn about the basics of wine - and of course taste a lot of wine during the educational journey! In this course you will learn about the essence of wine, and more specifically about grapes and wine production. You will learn to taste wine like a sommelier, and you will understand how to distinguish between different grapes.

18 Oct / 02 May  - The basics of wine and terminology:

The definition of​​ wine.
- What is terroir?
Other factors affecting the production of
​​ wine

25 Oct / 09 May -  . Production of wine from grape to cask - red - white - rose :

- Fermentation of the must and methods to "fix" it.
Additives in wine
- Laws and regulations on the cultivation and production of wine (DOC / G, Appellation etc)

1 Nov / 16 May  -  Wine with bubbles and dessert wines:
- review of production methods and the different types of sparkling and dessert wines the methods provide, as well as a review of the most well-known types.

 

8 Nov / 23 May  - Understand the characteristics of key red grapes:
- focus on the five characteristics of grapes
- We will discover 8-10 of the most common grapes used for red wine production.

 

15 Nov / 30 May   -  Understand the characteristics of key white grapes:
- focus on the five characteristics of grapes
- We will discover 8-10 of the most common grapes used for white wine production.

 

18 Nov / 02 June  -  Final written test
