Sommerlier course 1: Basics of wine, grapes and wine production

This sommelier course is a great course for those who want to learn about the basics of wine - and of course taste a lot of wine during the educational journey! In this course you will learn about the essence of wine, and more specifically about grapes and wine production. You will learn to taste wine like a sommelier, and you will understand how to distinguish between different grapes.

The package for Sommelier course 1 contains:       

  • 6 teaching sessions + one test

  • 18: 30-20.30 and one day a week

  • Tasting of min. 6 wines per night

  • You will receive a course certificate for completion

30 Aug / 5 Feb - History of the wine:

- Origins of wine

– Development of wine from the beginning to today

06 Sept / 12 Feb - .Production of wine from grape to barrel 

– Fermentation of the must and methods to "correct" it.
– Additives in wine
– Laws and regulations on the cultivation and production of wine (DOC/G, Appellation etc)

13 September  /19 FebWine with bubbles and dessert wines:
– review of production methods and the different types of sparkling and dessert wines the methods provide, as well as a review of the most well-known types.

 

20 Sept / 26 Feb- Understand the characteristics of key red grapes:
– focus on the five characteristics of grapes
- We will discover 8-10 of the most common grapes used for red wine production.

 

27 September /04 March Understand the characteristics of key white grapes:
– focus on the five characteristics of grapes
- We will discover 8-10 of the most common grapes used for white wine production.

 

28 September / 11 March - Final written test
Afterwards, the option to purchase an additional closing dinner
